Did you know your pets have rights too? There is a link between animal abuse and domestic violence. People who abuse animals are five times more likely to commit violent crimes against people. It is estimated that 88% of pets living in an abusive household will be abused or killed.
Animal abuse is often one of the first signs of a family in trouble. Veterinarians are starting to play a larger role in reporting abuse of all kinds.
Just remember when animals are abused, people are at risk, and when people are abused, animals are in danger. Please contact the Family Resource Center for more information at 540-483-5088.
